New Zealand tax lawyer appointed to Inter-Pacific Bar Association

29 July 2010

Neil Russ, a partner in Buddle Findlay, has been appointed New Zealand’s Jurisdictional Council Member for the Tokyo-based Inter-Pacific Bar Association.

The Inter-Pacific Bar Association, formed in 1991, currently has more than 1,400 members from some 65 countries and is the pre-eminent legal association in the Asia Pacific region.  Its members include judges, lawyers, academics and corporate counsel.

Neil Russ says that New Zealand lawyers stand to gain significantly from participating in the international network the association provides, and he will be using his new role to promote these opportunities for local practitioners.

“One recent development has been the move by the IPBA to change its membership and conference attendance structure to make it easier for corporate counsel to attend.”

“Before the major IPBA conference in Kyoto, Japan, next year I will be looking to raise the profile of the organisation and facilitate involvement of current, past and prospective IPBA members in New Zealand.”

Details of the IPBA can be found on www.ipba.org.
