Mental Health Law Conference 2011
Buddle Findlay and the Australian and New Zealand Association of Psychiatry, Psychology and Law (ANZAPPL) are pleased to announce the third annual Mental Health Law Conference.
This conference is intended to be a forum for inter-disciplinary discussion of key legal
issues facing lawyers, clinicians and consumers working in mental health with a view to
continuing to improve the way in which mental health services are provided in
New Zealand.
Topics include:
- Learnings from Health and Disability Commissioner investigations involving Mental Health Services
- The conduct of proceedings under the Mental Health (Compulsory Assessment and Treatment) Act - a judicial perspective
- Referring mental health concerns about health practitioners to the relevant Registration Authority
- Addressing mental health as a whole population issue through public health and public policy
- Death by suicide – the Coronial process
- Principles and proposed policies for new legislation regarding the compulsory treatment of people
with addictions
This full day conference will be presented in five main centres
