Anita is a member of our litigation and health law teams.  She advises on all aspects of health law including the regulation of health professionals, treatment issues, health information and privacy issues, ACC, treatment injuries, and clinical negligence.

Anita has acted for health provider organisations in complex claims for damages, including claims alleging breaches of the Bill of Rights Act, claims seeking compensatory and exemplary damages, secondary victim claims, and applications for judicial review.  Anita has also acted for health providers to obtain urgent treatment orders, at Coroners inquests, and in proceedings involving end of life issues.

Anita has extensive knowledge of the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act, the core legislation regulating health professionals in New Zealand.  She advises on all aspects of the HPCA Act, and has acted for regulatory authorities in statutory appeals, including to the High Court. Anita also advises professional conduct committees and competence review panels. 

Anita regularly liaises with registration authorities to provide training and guidance on the HPCA Act and good administrative decision-making.
