Charlotte is a member of our national property team and specialises in leasing, construction and land-related property advice. She has been involved in the development and negotiation of a range of land contracts, leases, agency contracts, tender conditions, development and construction contracts, easements, encumbrances and Public Works Act transactions.
Charlotte advises the Crown on a range of complex property issues relating to the settlement of historical and contemporary Treaty of Waitangi claims.
Charlotte is a member of the firm’s electricity sector team, advising Contact Energy on documentation and negotiation with the Crown and other government agencies for the acquisition and implementation of property rights for approximately NZ$3b of generation assets, and major geothermal energy easements and resource access rights.
Whilst working in London Charlotte was head of legal services for a national charity. She was involved in numerous judicial review cases involving United Kingdom public law, community care law and human rights issues. Charlotte advised local authorities on disability-related legal and policy issues and assisted with policy drafting.
Charlotte advises a number of community organisations and is on the board of trustees for the Laura Fergusson Trust.
