Marie has specialist expertise in health law, patients’ rights, accident compensation, and professional regulation. She advises and delivers professional education, on a wide range of health law issues to District Health Boards, private health providers, central agencies, professional registration authorities, and health researchers.
Prior to joining Buddle Findlay, Marie worked as a doctor in a number of New Zealand hospitals, served as an adviser to the Health and Disability Commissioner and completed a Harkness Fellowship in Healthcare Policy at the Harvard School of Public Health.
Marie has published widely on no-fault compensation, patient safety and healthcare complaints resolution. She has contributed to international health law conferences, and policy discussions regarding medical malpractice tort reform, in countries including Canada, the United States of America, England, Ireland, France, the Netherlands, Australia, and China.
Marie and her husband Matthew have 3 young children.
