Shane has 19 years experience in banking, finance, structured finance (including securitisations) and securities law. He specialises in advising statutory trustee companies on issues of debt securities, participatory securities and unit trusts, and securitisation structures.
Shane has acted for the trustee in the establishment and administration of RMBS securitisation structures (including an equity release structure and structures taking advantage of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand’s requirements for repo eligibility), in an issue of NZDX-listed capital guaranteed bonds and the establishment and administration of PIE compliant unit trusts (including cash and term fund PIEs).
Shane also acted for the trustee in the Credit Agricole SA Tier 1 capital subordinated note issue, the security trustee in the Bank of New Zealand Income Securities perpetual non-cumulative share issues, the bond trustee in the Goodman Property Trust senior secured bonds and wholesale bonds issues and the trustee in the establishment and successful implementation of deferred repayment plans for 2 defaulting finance companies, and the capital reconstruction plan for one of those finance companies. Recently, Shane acted for the trustee in the proposed (although ultimately not completed) internalisation plan for the Vital Healthcare Property Trust and has assisted the trustee with the removal, under the Unit Trusts Act 1960, of the managers of 2 unit trusts.
Further, Shane acted for the security trustee on a €5 billion global covered bond programme, the security trustee in the issue of PIE Capital Securities by Rabo Capital Securities and for the trustee and security trustee in commercial receivables and motor vehicle receivables securitisation structures.
Shane is a long-time motorsport enthusiast and avid cyclist.
