Lawyer - Employment

An exciting position has become available for an experienced lawyer to join our employment and health and safety team that forms part of our growing litigation team in Christchurch.  We are interested in someone who has two or more years relevant experience and is looking to specialise in employment law. 

This is a unique opportunity to work alongside Partner Susan Rowe, Special Counsel Shaun Brookes and the broader litigation team on a range of high-profile employment law matters.  In this role you can expect to receive exceptional mentorship, training, professional development, client contact and the chance to broaden your employment advocacy skills.

We pride ourselves on fostering strong client relationships and are well-known in the market for the high-quality advice we provide on a regular basis.  By joining the team, you'll work directly with private and public sector clients on the full range of employment law matters including:

  • Restructuring and outsourcing
  • Performance management, investigations, and dismissals
  • Negotiating and drafting employment agreements
  • Bullying, harassment, and personal grievances
  • Health and safety compliance and Worksafe investigations and prosecutions.

Our employment partners have extensive employment law experience and regularly run seminars on employment, privacy and health and safety issues.  Our national employment team is highly regarded and is one of the larger public sector employment law providers in New Zealand.

What matters to us

We value people who bring a different perspective, who are passionate, curious, and innovative.  To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

  • Two or more years PQE in employment law within a private practice or in-house environment.  If you have a mixed background in employment and civil litigation, then we encourage you to apply

  • A collaborative working style and enjoy operating in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and high-quality approach to the work you do.
