Solicitor or senior solicitor – Technology, media and telecommunications

We have a unique vacancy for a solicitor or senior solicitor has become available to join our exceptional technology, media and telecommunications (TMT) team at Buddle Findlay. 

Working with partners Allan Yeoman and Philip Wood, you will work with blue-chip clients in the private and public sectors, a range of tech start-ups and healthtech and healthcare sector agencies, offering advice on commercial contracting, technology procurement and supply projects, software development and licensing matters, privacy compliance, media and entertainment, marketing campaigns, and content rights development and acquisition.

The team also works closely with Buddle Findlay’s corporate M&A team on tech and telco sector transactions providing specialist knowledge and support.  You will have a steady diet of varied work that is interesting, complex and challenging while working with people who are invested in your success.

What matters to us

We value people who bring a different perspective, who are passionate, curious and innovative.  To be successful in this role, you ideally would:

  • Have three or more years' PQE working in a TMT or corporate and commercial team in New Zealand or overseas
  • Be able to work with clients on large-scale IT projects, advise on TV content licensing and production, and be familiar with New Zealand's privacy legislation
  • Be adept at contract drafting and negotiation. Experience advising on the Fair Trading Act 1986 and other relevant regulatory areas would also be valued.
