As a timely reminder, he discusses the responsibility of employers for staff health and safety at work Christmas events, even when these happen outside of the office and office hours. "The company, by putting on a Christmas party, still has health and safety responsibilities to workers and needs to ensure that the event is planned and executed responsibly having regard to what's going to happen there." Cook adds that, a company can put measures in place to manage an event responsibly, including having an appropriate space, providing enough food for guests and organising transportation home.
