Simon specialises in mergers and acquisitions (M&A), general corporate advice and the laws and rules regulating New Zealand’s capital markets.

Simon advises on public takeovers and schemes of arrangement, as well as private M&A transactions.  He has acted on some of the most significant transactions in the New Zealand market over the past decade, including acting for Infratil and Brookfield on their $3.4b acquisition of Vodafone New Zealand completed in 2019. 

Simon has also acted on numerous notable capital markets transactions, including advising Infratil (as major shareholder) on the Z Energy IPO, advising various leading investment banks (as JLMs) on some of New Zealand’s most prominent IPOs and NZX listed issuers and JLMs on various capital raisings.
