Scott Barker, partner at Buddle Findlay was interviewed by the NBR. Scott says a significant trend for litigation in 2018 will be property. "The property market is cooling especially in Auckland, so investors and developer margins are going to be squeezed and I think that's likely to give rise to more disputes" says Barker. Other areas of property which will likely feature are the continuation of claims from the Christchurch earthquake, the office/commercial property space around the misrepresentation of the seismic performance of buildings and the incompetency of professionals in the construction industry.
