His public law experience includes advising government agencies on their response to inquiries including the Royal Commissions of Inquiry into Abuse in State Care, and COVID-19 Lessons Learned.
He also assists clients with all aspects of the Overseas Investment Act, including consent applications, national security notifications, exemptions and investigations.
Hugo assists clients with a range of competition, consumer and regulatory issues, including supporting clients engaging with the Commerce Commission. He advises on a range of regulatory and product safety issues under the Fair Trading Act, Food Act and Medicines Act.
He also advises local government clients on their consultation and decision-making obligations, long-term planning and governance, including implementation of the Local Water Done Well reforms.
