Allegra specialises in dispute resolution, insolvency and restructuring.  She advises clients on a range of matters including contractual and equitable claims, corporate governance and shareholder and partnership disputes, trust disputes, fraud and asset recovery, property disputes, and interim and pre-action relief.  She also acts for clients in relation to debt enforcement, distressed refinancing, insolvency, and restructuring, including cross-border matters.

Prior to rejoining Buddle Findlay in 2026, Allegra worked in the Cayman Islands for a leading international law firm, in their dispute resolution and insolvency team.

Acting for the trustee of three private trusts established in the Cayman Islands

on a successful application by the trustee under a statutory version of the 'rule in Hastings-Bass', which essentially permits the court to unwind errors made by trustees - in this case, an error giving rise to a significant unforeseen tax liability

Acting for a Chinese real estate company

on the restructuring of its offshore debt, by way of parallel Cayman Islands and Hong Kong schemes of arrangement

Acting for companies in post-merger appraisal proceedings

seeking a determination as to the fair value of shares held by shareholders who dissented from the merger

Acting for a creditor

in proceedings relating to enforcement of a foreign arbitral award and personal bankruptcy of the debtor, and subsequently acting for the agents of the trustee in bankruptcy in relation to claw-back claims, including seeking urgent interim relief and assisting with cross-border enforcement and asset tracing across multiple jurisdictions
