Steph Snedden maintains a broad property law practice, advising major public and private sector clients across complex, high-value transactions throughout New Zealand.

Her transactional experience spans large-scale commercial, rural, forestry, and retail property transactions, Public Works Act acquisitions, Treaty of Waitangi settlement implementation, and complex leasing and land access arrangements across a wide range of sectors and property types.  She has expertise in the energy sector, advising on major renewable energy projects and energy infrastructure transactions.

Steph also holds specialist expertise in the Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS), carbon forestry, and emerging voluntary nature-based carbon markets.

Ministry of Education

Providing comprehensive, ongoing property support across the Ministry of Education's portfolio of approximately 2,100 state schools, including Public Works Act acquisitions, subdivisions, leases, and easements.  This has included advising on the disposal and leaseback of deferred selection properties forming part of the Te Kawerau a Maki and Ngāi Tai ki Tāmaki Treaty of Waitangi settlements.

Greater Wellington Regional Council

Advising Greater Wellington Regional Council on securing long-term operational tenure over a number of bus depots underpinning Wellington's regional public transport network.

Landcorp Farming (Pāmu)

Advising Pāmu on its farm portfolio, including the acquisition and divestment of farms, general rural property matters such as leases, licences and other rural property arrangements, and a range of long-term land use arrangements for wind and solar energy projects, including the negotiation of investigation licences, option agreements, agreements to grant easements, royalty agreements and lease documentation.

China Forestry Group, CFPC, Remutaka Forests and Fortuna Forests

Advising on forest investments, including acquisitions and disposals of interests in land, business assets, and shares, management and operational arrangements, carbon leases and the implications of the Emissions Trading Scheme.

Contact Energy - Southland Wind Farm and wind farm portfolio

Advising Contact Energy on securing land access and development rights across its pipeline of large-scale wind farms throughout New Zealand, including the 380MW Southland Wind Farm, which will be New Zealand's largest once constructed.

Brookfield Asset Management - NZ$2b gas network acquisition

Advising Brookfield on all property aspects of its acquisition of the gas transmission, distribution, and storage businesses of Clarus Group, involving one of the most extensive property due diligence exercises in the New Zealand energy sector in recent years.
