The Government has asked the Productivity Commission to review New Zealand's urban planning system and identify where change is needed. The review will take a "first principles" approach to the urban planning framework, and will consider processes under the Resource Management Act and a raft of other legislation.
The Productivity Commission will begin the inquiry with a publication of an issues paper, which is expected to be available by mid-December. It will seek submissions from all interested parties and will provide a final report to the Government by 30 November 2016.

We will continue to keep you updated on the review.
